What really is modern art? Is the answer relevant to know? Most of us aspire to be one of the famous artists of our time. The art involves a lot of styles and movements. Our ancestors revealed to us the many forms of art. They have amazing talents when it comes to painting, engraving, drawing, sculpting, and more. They have no formal education yet they are still unbelievable. The term modern now refers to fresh, new, different or innovative ideas and movements applied to various projects. Yes, there are traditional means by which an oil painting is done. But, with the touch of modernization, artists find unique ways to finish something the way they never did before. Beautifully made artworks have the priceless value. They are not just a piece of something. They have greater worth, meanings. They reflect hidden personalities, talk about culture, present wonderful ideas, and correct misinterpretations. For some, an artwork serves as a bridge between the present and the past. It is even a gateway that leads to a brighter future.

Modern art comes roughly between 1860s and 1970s. The years are remarkable for many artists. After 1970s, it is already the time for the contemporary or postmodern art. Pablo Picasso is one of the most popular artists of the modern artworks. His work makes of Cubism which is centered on the fragments and geometric shapes. Picasso along with the other artists was influenced by different cultures. Picasso largely depend his work on the African culture. Another modern movement named Fauvism is also powerful and influential along with Expressionism and Futurism. Most masterpieces appear in abstract forms. They are different than usual. An abstract work is full of colors, lines and shapes. It requires a creative mind and artistic hands. Abstract paintings are not thoroughly understood by the audiences. This is what makes them different, their meanings are not directly understand. One still needs to look beyond what is written, drawn or painted.

In this modern world, artists are more focused on experimenting. They like to make something out of the available materials. With or without formal training, real talents show off. It is important to have an open mind. So, why don’t you try making abstract works? Experiment with lines, shapes and colors. Ready your canvass. Create a unique topic in mind. Make your sketch. What do you wish to paint? Will you express happiness or grief? How about freedom and achievement? Dare to make a project and share it!
